Gertie the dinosaur.
Fun fact, Chernobog(spelled Chernabog in fantasia) isn't Satan, although he is the proto-slavic god of darkness and despair. His name translates to black god and his name has waaaaay too many alternate spellings.
if you just skip around the beginning you'll get lines such as:
"here's an introduction to animation"
"hippopotamus ballet dance"
"walt disney loves satan"
"t-rex"
"clitoris"
As a linguistics major, yes actually, I am very much enjoying your linguistics discussion. 😛
Lmao the best thing was Arin walking off to platform and then me immediately getting an ad, it’s like the fuckin “to be continued” meme
U
If anyone is curious, what Dan's talking about at 4:00 is Gertie the Dinosaur by Windsor McCay in 1914! I believe most of McCay's work was auctioned off to various people or destroyed in hard times but Gertie is the best preserved and most well known. It also wasn't by any means the earliest animation, but was the earliest to feature a Dinosaur, as well as being considered the earliest to make use of several different now fairly common animation techniques. (The first animation I could find documented was probably the flipbook by John Barnes Linnett in 1868, the kinetoscopes of the late 1800's, or Humpty Dumpty's Circus in 1898 which as far as I could tell was the first stop motion animation, but very little remains of it.)
I may be wro g but Anastasia isnt disney
Game grumps: Just finished reading Sonic fanfics.
Youtube: Now is the perfect time to show an ad for the movie!
I’m saddened that Arin didn’t remember BIENVENUE POWER BOTTOMS! in this episode
arin: dies literally 3 times in the exact same spot
I missed the fact that they were talking about Fantasia so I thought they were still talking about mad max althroughout
There's a high pitched beeping in some of these videos that's driving me crazy
the saying "chewing the fat" comes from the eskimos because they would chew whale blubber. what else are you supposed to do on an ice cap?
If you can "give yourself" to someone after you've been "saving yourself" for so long, SURELY they can give it back if they want.
ACTUALLY THERE IS CAMERA MOVEMENT
the dinosaur animation is called 'Gertie'
4:23 Dan's talking about Gertie the Dinosaur. And the legend dealing with the train and having a bunch of people run out cause they thought it was coming at them is a myth.
If anyone has anymore film based questions, I'm a Film Major in College so ask away.
Does anyone remember that Fred Savage dinosaur thing from the 80’s? He’s trying to write a report about dinosaurs or something, but can’t think of what to write, then he figures it out and it goes into all these short dinosaur related cartoons and claymations? Anyone? No? Just me?
Same, Arin, I never take credit for other people's jokes. If I say something from here or anywhere and it gets noticed, I'll make sure the audience knows (if I remember where it came from) the true author and if not, that it wasn't my genius
I'm angry that Arin isn't flipping out about how BS this level is…
…I hate it SO much.
"BIENVENUE POWER BOTTOMS" is one of my favorite GG quotes
I fucking hate the lock on sound!
Im listening to this episode through headphones and its like a constant beeping in my ear.
Its like I am hearing Morse code or some shit.
7:18 Know-it-all Super Nerd Dan is the best part of this video.
The episode was from super Mario bros u deluxe
Shoutout to Mega64 🤘🤘🤘
At 4:00 your talking about Gertie the dinosaur, by Windsor McCay! He's also the author of the super beautiful Little Nemo comic strip.
Tbf..this level is designed awkwardly
Dan really must have a lot of patience with Arin. He died on the first jump of the level 3 times in a row and Dan said nothing
